Charles “Charlie” Adlard was born in Shrewsbury, England on April 8th, 1966. He is the artist and penciller of The Walking Dead since Issue #7. His work as a comic artist began in the United Kingon with Robbie Morrison on White Death. Other works included 2000 AD, Judge Dredd, Armitage, Savage, The X-Files, Astronauts in Trouble, Mars Attacks!, The Hellfire Club, Warlock, Batman: Gotham Knights, Green Lantern/Green Arrow, White Death, Blair Witch: Dark Testaments, Codeflesh, Shadowman, and The Establishment.
His style has evolved from fully painted artwork on Armitage to large blocks of black ink on his more modern comics. In 1992, he collaborated with best-selling horror writer Guy N. Smith on Crabs’ Fury. In 2001, he won the Squiddy Award for Best Inker. He illustrated Playing the Game, which was a graphic novel written by Nobel Prize winner Doris Lessing. He has worked on The Walking Dead since Issue #7.
