There were rumors in 2012 that a The Walking Dead movie was in the works. However, when ComicBook.com learned of these rumors, they asked AMC and Robert Kirkman’s representatives for validation of the rumors – they gave none.
Recently, Robert Kirkman (the creator of The Walking Dead) appeared on the Closing Bell with Maria Bartiromo on CNBC. She asked him about the possibility of there being a movie for the hit franchise. He responded, “There’s always talk, but there’s no definite plans just yet, but who knows what the future holds.”
In regards to zombies getting overexposed, Kirkman stated that he thinks “that the zombie didn’t get their due,” and that, “I think we’re pretty far from a saturation point.” So, in summary, Kirkman is keeping the possibility of a TWD movie open. However, the questions remain – “Would a The Walking Dead movie be overkill?” or “Would a The Walking Dead movie be a great idea since more options would be available that were previously not with a TV budget?”.
